Strong Friendship and Coffee.

You must all be wondering what's been going on but I did state that I spent all of Tuesday creating and came up with several cards for several challenges.

I made this card in line with the Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #105 But I had to turn it onto it's side so the images worked properly for me.

This card may look white but it's actually an off white. It's been made for one of my best friends Birthday- it's actually a late birthday card her birthday was last week and I haven't given it to her because 1- I only just made it this week and 2- She will understand that I wanted to photograph it for my blog before I gave it to her. :)

This friend likes old world things - which is actually my era but she's a bit younger than me-and when I got this set I instantly thought of her. I was trying to make it look vintage so although I wasn't sure whether it would work or not I started playing around with Distress ink- Vintage Photo. firstly I watered it down quite a bit and gently brushed it onto some watercolour paper to give that vintagy feel then I stamped it with Stazon Timber Brown both the picture and the greeting Then I die cut using my nestabilities petit oval scalloped and Blossom dies- I thought it still looked to clean and new so using the side of the dropper I ran around the paper to give give it a darker edge. once that was dry I scrunched up the picture of the lady and then gently flattened it. During this process I accidentally dripped a couple of brown spots over the picture so instead of removing them or starting again I thought it added to the aged feel- I also took my paintbrush to just sort of lighten the centre of the picture I think it looks ok I used various papers from my stash and also from a pad I bought at a local discount store about 2 years ago  I was going to use green as that's her fave colour but it just didn't look right so I picked the pink out of the spotty paper as the accent colour. The swirly things are a die I bought years ago because it was only about $3 and I thought it too good to pass up-it was even before I had my die cutting machine. and the ribbon is actually some velvet ribbon that I bought from an Opportunity- or thrift -shop about two years ago too.
